Andrew McCabe steps down as the FBI deputy director
House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes (R-CA) has claimed his second victim of his FBI memo which he wants to release today.
And that victim is none other than the number two man, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
McCabe walked into the office today and was like, “I’m gone.” He wasn’t suppose to be gone until his retirement, which would have been on March 18, 2018.
At least, that’s what Adam Goldman of the New York Times told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer today.
But Nunes, who’s made a name for himself as Donald Trump’s House Boy, threaten to release a damning memo about the FBI that would have painted former FBI Director James Comey and his crew in a bad light.
Andrew McCabe and former FBI Chief of Staff Jim Rybicki worked under James Comey. Rybicki, who was Nunes’ first victim, resigned last Tuesday.
It’s no secret that Trump and his crew are no fan of Comey and his crew. Trump fired Comey last June because of the Russian investigation.
Now, Trump will say it wasn’t because of Russia but he’s on tape telling NBC’s Lester Holt that Russia was why James Comey had to take the first train smoking.
Andrew McCabe, Jim Rybicki, and FBI Lawyer James Baker were all James Comey leftovers.
Baker was reassigned last month. Trump started telling folks that McCabe was a Hillary Clinton supporter and that his wife, Dr. Jill McCabe, received funding from Clinton during her campaign for state senator in Virginia.
However, Business Insider reported that McCabe never received any money from Clinton and that her state senate campaign funding came from the Democratic Party in Virginia and from Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s super PAC.
Trump didn’t hear any of that, though. All he heard was Clinton, friend, and money. And ever since then, Trump has cemented it in his little mind that McCabe and his wife have had it in for him since the beginning.
It also hasn’t helped McCabe that two FBI agents, Lisa Page and Peter Strzok , wrote several emails speaking of their disdain for Trump. That did nothing but add fuel to the fire.
According to reports, Trump became so mad about McCabe’s presence at the FBI that he tried pressuring Attorney General Jeff Sessions to force FBI Director Christopher Wray to fire Andrew McCabe.
Business Insider cited a story from Axios which stated that Wray said he would walk if he had to fire McCabe.
And oh, I almost forgot. Ol’ Trump reportedly threatened to fire Sessions because he relinquished his control over the Russian Investigation to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who Donald Trump wants gone as well.
Rod Rosenstein then appointed James Comey’s former boss Robert Mueller. And less than a week ago, The New York Times’ Michael Schmidt and Maggie Habberman reported that White House Counsel Donald F. McGahn II threaten to pack his duds and go if Donald Trump fired Robert Mueller.
Today, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters that Donald Trump has been cooperating with Robert Mueller and his crew and Donald Trump hopes to get this resolve so folks can get the “Russian fever out of their system once and for all.”
Welp, one thing that is fo’ sho’ is that with all of these folks resigning, it’s going to be hard to bring down the “Russian fever” that Donald Trump’s own actions are elevating.
